While the pandemic continues to create uncertainty across markets, there is one thing the flooring sector knows for sure: consumers want natural, sustainable, and hard-wearing interiors, in the hope to reset and create a more circular economy.

As we reach the end of 2021, the trend towards authenticity and naturalness continues to go unabated, with increasing demand towards a more authentic and sustainable way of living. Our members have continued to invest in new solutions to provide laminate floors that can withstand challenging uses while also protecting the environment.

It is our utmost joy and privilege to be able to announce the birth of a New Event that is created for the benefit of all people and businesses in the flooring industry.

FCNews has announced the winners of its inaugural FCNnovation Awards, a new initiative designed to recognize and highlight some of the most innovative new products and technologies in the flooring industry today.

The EGGER Group, headquartered in St. Johann in Tirol (AT), closed the first half of its 2021/2022 financial year (reporting date 31st October 2021) with consolidated sales of EUR 1.98 billion (+36.5% as compared to the previous year). The special economic situation in the construction and furniture sector as well as the capacity increases of new plants contributed significantly to the result. The situation on the raw material markets was challenging. The outlook for the second half of the year is optimistic despite existing uncertainties.

Since 1961, EGGER has developed from a Tirolean sawmill into one of the world's leading manufacturers of wood-based materials. The pioneering spirit of the founder, Fritz Egger sr., still characterises the company today. His sons Fritz and Michael Egger have positioned the company internationally and as a full-range supplier. On the occasion of its 60th anniversary, the family company presents a new corporate video.

The adhesives specialist STAUF is currently working on three new developments. With one product each from the dispersion adhesives range, from the silane adhesives range and from the polyurethane adhesives range, the experts at STAUF are developing three adhesives that cover the most diverse areas of parquet installation, but all have two key properties:

Using the Perception HEAD enables the Woodtech Division of Wintersteiger AG to precisely detect the structure of defects in wood. This allows chemical characteristics such as blue stain, weak spots, branch decay, galls, and knotholes to be precisely scanned & machined, setting new quality assurance standards in the timber industry.

This was announced by Deutsche Messe AG as organizer of the leading trade show for carpets and floor coverings.

"We have been fighting for DOMOTEX together with the exhibiting companies until the very end, and have been in daily communication with the industry for months," says Sonia Wedell-Castellano, Global Director DOMOTEX, Deutsche Messe AG.

The site of the FN Neuhofer family business in Zell am Moos is barely recognisable. Where two years ago there was a small wooded area at the company’s entrance, today a modern new building impresses – consisting of an office building and production halls. These are currently being filled with the latest high-tech systems, without, of course, losing sight of the idea of sustainability.

Already well known for its innovative strength, FN Neuhofer presented its products at the Branchentag Holz (09. – 10.11.2021) in Cologne, Germany.

Among other things, its white skirtings, which are still very much in vogue, were on display in many different shapes, substrate materials (spruce, pine, beech, obeche and MDF) and surfaces (lacquered, foiled, paintable).

Skirting trim professionally renovated

Renovations are trending as the leading share of residential construction at 68%. Work on existing buildings in commercial and public building construction is also predominant. * For this major potential, the profile manufacturer Küberit has completed its wide range of floor, wall and stair profiles with the new skirting trim type 928 for the renovation of tile skirtings. When installing LVT flooring, they enable a base that is as attractive as it is durable and has the same decor.
